Carmen epitomizes excellence in language education, making her an ideal candidate for the 2024 World Language Teacher of the Year from Nevada. Her innovative teaching methods engage students of diverse backgrounds and abilities, fostering a deep appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity. Carmen’s passion for language education, innovative teaching approach, leadership in professional development, and commitment to community engagement make her an exemplary representative of Nevada for the 2024 World Language Teacher of the Year award. *Teachers may also apply directly through these links (without a formal nomination from a colleague) to be considered for Nevada’s World Language Teacher of the Year.
All application materials should be submitted electronically as a PDF file. Successful candidates must be full-time language educators who spend at least fifty-percent (50%) of their time in direct teaching during the year of application with an expectation of teaching during the next two (2) years.
TEACHER OF THE YEAR INTERVIEW PROCESS:
Plan to be interviewed via Zoom. You will be notified ahead of time via email of the specific day and time for your interview.
Interviews will be composed of two parts:
- Questions and Answers (ten minutes) – You will answer questions by the selection committee. Questions will be based on the following topics:
- Personal background
- National and state world language standards and proficiency levels.
- Professional involvement
- Value of language learning
- Mock press conference (five minutes) – You will give a three to five minute press conference to a civic group or other outside organization
